Day 4: Why is learning English important?

There are time when we feel a great passion towards our mother tongue. Some even feel the passion throughout. Our language is something that we need to be proud about, and we absolutely do feel happy about it. But, sometimes we tend to overlook the benefits that English brings for us.

Here, I am not trying to say that English is the best language out of all, and that we should ditch our mother tongue, but we need not ignore English in the name of passion for our mother-tongue. What I am trying to say is that English is just another language, but this one is spoken world-wide. When someone is ignoring English, that particular person is losing out some major benefits in the world, because communication gets limited with people who are aware of the language that he/she speaks.

Whereas, when communication happens with English, the subject is taken to a larger audience, majorly because a lot of the people around the world learn/know English.

Now, this is the place where I want to make myself clear. I am not trying to degrade our mother-tongue here, but I say that it is better when we treat English as just another language, and learning a new language is not going to affect our lives by any way. I am not instilling a language here, but I'm rather trying to say that let us not lose out on anything just because we don't know a language even we have a wonderful knowledge over a subject.

When there is a comparison between English and mother-tongue, it is bad when someone who is astonishingly fluent in English but can't utter a statement in their mother-tongue. Because, mother-tongue is our identity and English will help us take our identity to a larger audience.

Make sure you have complete fluency in your mother-tongue, but also make sure that you also have an upper hand in English. Make sure you don't lose out on anything just because you don't want to learn English. English is never a hard language, it just need the right passion to be learnt.
