Is this self quarantine increasing our stress?

Though my topic looks much like a research topic, I'm definitely not going to write a research paper on this topic, but I would rather like to reflect on what this quarantine has done to us!

When the quarantine actually begun, we had some good Netflix movies and series to watch, some interesting books to read, and some quality time to spend with our family, be it parents or children, but as days pass by, most of us have realised that life is not just about netflixing and chilling.

Quarantine began to be something of fun! Social media nominations, challenges, online games and what not! Bingo all over Instagram, Dalgona coffee on everyone's status and life was absolutely cool and normal for the ones who were comfortable enough to deal with their lives.

But life indeed was a misery to everyone every time people tuned into anything that gave us news and information about the pandemic. Some said heat would prevent us from the deadly virus while other said our culture would, but there is a steady increase in count of people who are affected by this virus. A cough became the sign of enmity and work from home became the life of most of the employed.

When it is all about getting locked up in the house, people got bored of what social media had to tell them, and all the challenges and dares lost their say now. Interest in Dalgona coffee faded away. But on the other hand, rumours are ruling the world, and particularly our society. People talking about whatever they want, and the stress started budding up when we don't know which one to trust and which one to not trust.

Our brains have been trained to take a break when we get stressed up, but then, now that it has gotten locked up within the walls of our own houses, we don't know where to vent out our frustrations, being it a friendly scuffle, family burden or workspace pressure. Our brains do need breaks.

People who once longed for the comfort of work from home realized that it is nothing more than a double stress. When it is working from office, we had office matters to concentrate in office and house matters to think about at home. Now that our houses have taken up the double role of being our office and house, we don't know if we should focus on our office stuff or our house essentials.

Students have taken up the responsibility of transforming their houses into their mini-classroom. I suppose it isn't a voluntary decision, but it is much like they don't have any other choice.

With all the stress bundling up - with all the frustrations soaring up in our lives, let us remember that this hard time shall too pass. Don't get caught up with this! This dark cloud shall pass too. So, carry a smile and a positive vibe.
