The flaws with "The Fifteen People I Met."

"The Fifteen People I Met," is my first book, and it gave me the recognition of "The Best Indian Debut Author." In this book, I have spoken about fifteen people who I met randomly, and the influence they had in my life. Also, I kept mentioning that the stories do have a touch of imagination, because a story simply recited as a fact could not be very interesting. I published this book by the late 2018, and I should say that it received a very warm welcome from the people I knew. But, there are tons and tons of mistakes that I did, which I am going to share in this post.

I self-published

When I finished writing this book, I was very tired to find a publisher for the book. I didn't even give a try to look for some publisher to publsih my book, but I immediately sought the help of a self-publishing forum. I am not really sure if I would have had my book published, if I was only looking for a publishing house to accept my book, but one thing that I am sure of now is that, I should have given it a try at least. Had I tried, I would have known the flaws in the writing, but now, I have no idea about. The only option that I am left with, is to assume something might have happened.

Editing is an important part of a book

Though I knew that editing plays a vital role in publishing a book, I didn't pay much attention to find an editor to final check my book. The result was absolutely obvious. I had ennumber of mistakes in my book, spelling errors and a lot more. Now, when I read through my book, I could see how much I could have changed, if only I had read through it patiently again, before approving for publication.

Marketing

The moment my book got published, I sat on my couch with a cup of coffee, and relaxed, thinking that I was done with a greatest task. Little did I knew then, that my actual effort should start at that point. I didn't try even a bit of marketing, and when I talk to people about my book, I didn't have the courage to ask them to buy my book. I was very quiet about my book, that highly affected the sale of my book. A lot of people knew about my book, but none had the idea of where to buy the book.

It is almost a year now, since I published my book. My book is referred to be an award winning people, and a lot of people call me an author. I have tried my hand in writing, which is now encouraging me to write more. I started working on volume two to my book. Now that I have comprehended the flaws with my first book, I will obviously try hard to not repeat these flaws.
