Let me start with discussing about what I considered success to be. I will start from my school days, coz, before that I never had the burden of knowing what success is.
When I was in school, becoming the school topper was a success. Winning all the contests there was a success.
During my under-grads, speaking English fluently without any error was a success.
During my post-grads, finding a job with a pay that is better than anybody else was a success. Getting to do cool stuffs that others don't get to do was a success. Seeing things from a new perspective was a success. Getting the job done on time was success. Not failing at all was a success. Running behind success was a success.
I never considered myself to be successful, because everything that I should attain, and everything I dream of, comes to me with struggle, and only with struggle. There came a time where I was only at my early 20s, but already considered myself to be a failure.
I saw others of my age being entrepreneurs, running business, earning in lakhs and crores, getting settled in life and having fun in social media.
But, life never goes straight. It takes turns at time when we don't expect a turn. My life's turning point was when I realized that I was successful, except that I didn't realize it all the while.
The real success was
When I could sit and laugh out loud with my family
When I could be nice to people around me
When I could go to sleep with peace
When I could just be myself
When I could have the liberty of making my own decisions
When I could trust myself
So, I figured out what success actually means in my life. Now, What does success mean to you?
What is success anyway?
